Sunday NightRead
We are excited to announce an ongoing partnership with the Hyde Park Herald to bring you the Sunday NightRead, a twice-monthly history newsletter that will dive into key people, moments, and institutions from Hyde Park’s past.
The first few installments we’ll be featuring oral histories that we have conducted over the past several decades, including archival audio, transcripts, and photos--some of which have never been seen or heard by the greater public.
For the first installment, we’ve released an excerpt of a 1995 oral history with Bruce Sagan. A treasured member of the Hyde Park community, Bruce was the longtime owner and publisher of the Hyde Park Herald and marshaled its merger with the South Side Weekly. Beyond that, he shaped many parts of the cultural, civic, and physical landscape in Hyde Park-Kenwood and the city at large.

Partnerships like this are possible because of the support of our community. To help, make a donation to the Historical Society.
